You know what I am about to ask...what is your stance on growth? - Kim A.

That is definitely the number one question I get asked, thanks for bringing it here Kim.  I want to hit the pause button on residential growth and I look to bring a healthy balance between commercial and residential.  As a business woman, I understand the city's need to bring to rooftops in order to attract the commercial, but the threshold I feel was met a long time ago.  There is growth that has been approved and cannot be stopped at this point, but I would like us to pause on approving additional residential growth until we assess infrastructure and overall Tega Cay and Fort Mill community impact.  I would like to focus on sustaining the way of life that has attracted us all to our city including public safety, schools, parks & recreation, marine life, and much more.  I still would love to see a Main Street Tega Cay where we can come together as a community outdoors and in, and a feasibility study performed on the possibility of a restaurant in Tega Cay on the water.

Can you tell me how many people we have on our City Council and whose positions are up for election this year? - Susan A

I can never seem to make the Council Meetings and I honestly never make the time to watch the video replay of the sessions.  I don't find the agenda or minutes useful, as they do not really explain what is voted on.  I see you have been posting quick highlights and I find them very valuable, but do you plan on continuing this after the election?  Thanks - Kevin J

Thanks Kevin, I agree that sometimes it is hard to really understand all that is going on in Council Meetings.  I have a better understanding than most and even I find myself following up with City leadership for additional explanation now and then.  I am glad you find my super quick highlights beneficial and yes, I plan on continuing them after the election.  They by no means cover everything but I do like to highlight anything I found interesting to know and items that Citizens Joe and Jane may need a heads up on. Here are the highlights from City Council Meeting Monday September 18.

I live on the Lake Ridge side of Tega Cay and have had a lot of my neighbors and friends talk about how they feel like a "red-headed stepchild" to the peninsula.  I do not personally feel this way, but have you heard this and what do you think about it? Karen M

I hate to hear that any of our residents would not feel connected to our city.  I think that a lot of folks are having trouble with the naming conventions for our new residents, since we have been "the peninsula" for so long.  I think that with time, this will correct itself and we will all be use to our collective new area.  I do see opportunities, however, from a tangible standpoint that I will advocate for our new residents.  I want to have at least one marquis added to our new side of the city, along with stone additions to neighborhood signs that read "A community of Tega Cay".  The road down Gardendal, Dam and New Grey Rock all have to be updated and I want to influence the possibility of widening Gardendale to allow a center tree-lined median with the upgrades.  I feel that these aesthetic additions will ensure that we maintain the same look and feel that attracted us all to Tega Cay!  I am confident that I will represent our entire city population, regardless of location within our city, as your elected Council Member; taking all resident input into everyday consideration, listening for understanding with an open mind.
